Purpose

This video is one that inspires me daily when I watch it and I feel I would not be spreading the good Light if I did not share it with everybody. I do ask that you take a moment to let it touch your life.

Before watching the video I ponder the story of a man named Robert Fulghum. See his story below.

"Dr. Papaderos, what is the meaning of life?"

The usual laughter followed, and people stirred to go.

Papaderos held up his hand and stilled the room and looked at me for a long time, asking with his eyes if I was serious and seeing from my eyes that I was.

"I will answer your question."

Taking his wallet out of his hip pocket, he fished into a leather billfold and brought out a very small round mirror, about the size of a quarter.

And what he said went like this:

"When I was a small child, during the war, we were very poor and we lived in a remote village. One day, on the road, I found the broken pieces of a mirror. A German motorcycle had been wrecked in that place.

"I tried to find all the pieces and put them together, but it was not possible, so I kept only the largest piece. This one. And by scratching it on a stone I made it round. I began to play with it as a toy and became fascinated by the fact that I could reflect light into dark places where the sun would never shine -- in deep holes and crevices and dark closets. It became a game for me to get light into the most inaccessible places I could find.

"I kept the little mirror, and as I went about my growing up, I would take it out in idle moments and continue the challenge of the game. As I became a man, I grew to understand that this was not just a child's game but a metaphor for what I might do with my life. I came to understand that I am not the light or the source of light. But light -- truth, understanding, knowledge -- is there, and it will only shine in many dark places if I reflect it.

"I am a fragment of a mirror whose whole design and shape I do not know. Nevertheless, with what I have I can reflect light into the dark places of this world -- into the black places in the hearts of men -- and change some things in some people. Perhaps others may see and do likewise. This is what I am about. This is the meaning of my life."

Too much dark is filling those we know and love and it rests on us to be a source of light. Hopefully we can all reflect light - truth, understanding, knowledge - into the very places where light is needed. The hearts of man.

The answers to the Christmas Card are:
Merry Christmas! We thought we would give you an update on the Siddoway Family in the form of a puzzle. See if you can match the numbers to their correct homes. Answers will be on Andy’s blog at theartoflifephotography@blogspot.com  Happy Puzzling!

We have now lived in bountiful for 3 years and 3 months. Andy and I celebrated our 3 year Anniversary on September 9. Ashton is almost 2 and very talkative now. One of his newest phrases is counting 1, 2, 3! We have a wonderful new addition to our family; Britton was born on September 24 2008. After about 9 hours of labor, a little boy was born. He weighed 6 pounds,9 ounces and 19.5 inches long (if you don’t get this one i don’t think you’re thinking very hard). He came just in time for the Holidays! Halloween was loads of fun! Andy was a wizard; Me, a witch(because that is my everyday outfit anyway); Ashton, a goblin; and Britton, a ghost! We have had the Christmas tree up and been listening to Holiday music since November 2! We love the holidays! Andy has been quite the chef lately! He made a fabulous cheesecake that he entered into a ward pie contest and he won 2 out of the three awards! This year Andy hit President’s club at Franklin Covey for the 2nd time in a row. We are so proud of him! This year has gone by fast and was wonderful. We hope yours had been wonderful too, and that this coming year will be filled with love and hope and be even better!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Silky And Smooth

Well, today I decided to see if two of my passions would work together... Baking and Photography!

This was my first attempt at a vanilla bean cheesecake and it turned out well.  It was very smooth in texture and warm with vanilla flavor.  I'm going to change the recipe next time because there was a little too much of the lemon juice.  I used the juice of one full lemon (fresh) and I'll cut it to 1/2 next time.  Nonetheless, I was able to win in a baking competition 2 out of 3 categories!  Not too shabby for my first cheesecake.

Enjoy the pictures!!!!
